Pilar, Bataan – Last June 22, 2016, the Incident Management Team and the Municipal Council for the Welfare of Children held a Monitoring of 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill spearheaded by our dynamic Mayor Alicia D. Pizarro with focal person Ms. Maricel Aquino, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer. Other officers of the different departments of the municipality as well as the various community organizations such as Pilar Integrated OFW Family Circle, Farmers Association, Samahan ng Mangingisda sa Landing, 4Ps representative, PNP Chief, AB President Miguel Solomon, and Councilors Fatima Enriquez and Aurea Iguico participated in the said activity.
The Incident Management Team and the Municipal Council for the Welfare of Children conducted the drill at 9:00 in the morning in four different schools in the district. They were divided into four teams and were assigned in their respective areas.
In Pilar Elementary School, the team composed of Mayor Alice Pizarro, Pilar Municipal Engr. Hazel de Guzman, Pilar District Supervisor Dr. Joelfa G. Reyes, Municipal Agriculturist Godofredo Espiritu, Mr. Ace Anthony Vicedo from Pilar RHU, Ms. Maricel Clavel of Pilar MSWD, and Ms. Imelda Desales, President of Pilar Integrated OFW Family Circle.
The second team which was assigned at Pantingan Elementary School was composed of Hon. Miguel Solomon, Ms. Maricel Aquino, Ms. Annie Hipolito, Ms. Anita dela Rosa, Mr. Solomon Sinson, Ms. Gloria Crisostomo, and Mr. John Rafael Paguio.
The third team assigned at Panilao Elementary School consisted of Hon. Fatima Enriquez, Chief Leobaldom Bacon, Ms. Rosario Escoto, Ms. Fe Sagre, Ms. Ramela Buensuceso, Ms. Nerissa Viscayno, and Ms. Francia Sicat.
The fourth team was assigned at Ala-uli Elementary School and was consisted of Hon. Aurea Iguico, SPO1 Alberto Ramos Jr., Mr. Hamilton Cruz, Ms Jenny Lee Casin, Ms. Haidee Gunio, Ms. Nelia Fababi, and Mr. Benjamin Gruela.
LDRRMO Maricel Aquino coordinated with Dr. Joelfa G. Reyes for the conduct of the drill in the said schools. The school heads took charge in ensuring that the school personnel and the students were ready for the said activity. The drill was conducted as scheduled.
The Incident Management Team evaluated the drill afterwards. They found the drill to be effective and helpful for the participants to be able to be prepared for any untoward incidents that may happen in the future. The purpose of creating awareness and getting people ready was served and that preparations for any disaster or natural calamities be second nature to them.
It was a successful event because of the effective coordination between the team in charge and Dep Ed-Pilar.
